Fretless Tonal Trainer
A free practice aid that plays a steady reference drone while showing your live pitch against it, so you can train your ear to what in‑tune actually sounds and looks like on a fretless instrument. It also works without the drone, sensing and displaying the pitch like a finger on a lined fretless. The key in either mode is to play slowly — it allows time for the app to respond and builds muscle memory.
Drone: drag left or right on the strip anytime to choose the reference note. While you drag, the selected drone note stays centered and snaps to the gold line. Use the single Drone button to turn the sound on or off.
Playing: your live pitch slides under the center line. When your line meets the gold drone line, you are in unison — the line lights gold and the beating in your ears disappears. Use earbuds so the drone doesn’t leak into the mic.
For the best experience on iPhone: tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen,” and launch it from the icon. It runs full-screen like an app.
Privacy: the drone is synthesized on your device and your playing is analyzed on your device. Your microphone audio is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere, and nothing about your use is collected. The mic stays active while the app is open; close it to release the mic.
No warranty: this tool is provided free and “as is,” without warranties of any kind. Use it at your own discretion; the author is not liable for any damages arising from its use. It is a practice aid, not a precision instrument or tuner.
